The Branch Manager provides leadership and supervision by setting the example for his or her staff to follow and is a leader and coach in both action and attitude by exemplifying what he or she expects of all staff members. Responsible for customer relations, customer development, customer service, consumer loans, liaison for commercial loans, and administration functions of the branch. Ensure that all areas comply with overall bank policies, operating procedures, and banking regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consumer Lending:
- Obtain consumer loan applications, properly counsel applicants, analyze financial and related data, determine appropriate pricing, and loan structure and make loan recommendation according to bank policies.
- Work closely with loan servicing as a team to efficiently close all loans in a timely manner with proper documentation. Work with loan servicing to ensure all disclosures, reports, financial statements, tax returns, title insurance commitments and appraisals are reviewed prior to closings.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with borrowing customers to broaden the bank's public image and to develop additional business for the bank.
- Liaison for commercial loans.
- Keep current with all lending and collections (federal and state) regulations.
- Prepare applicable loan approval form for loan request and present to Loan Committee for approval if over their lending limit.
- Maintain contact with individuals concerned with the loans in process including customers, various bank departments, and title and escrow companies, schedule closing meetings.
- Effectively follow through on collection of past-due accounts.
- Position is required to register and maintain current Mortgage Loan Originator registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as required by lawWork to expand and support the branch’s market share consistent with First Security Bank’s goals and policies.
- The position serves as a proactive, client and community-focused representative of the bank. Represent the bank to current and prospective clients and assists in expanding and retaining existing and new client relationships.
Operations:
- Provide management and leadership for all staff to ensure branch office effectively delivers financial products and services to existing and new customers.
- Achieve branch profitability and sales goals.
- Administers and directs all operational functions of the branch including protection of assets and maintenance of facilities within the guidelines set forth. Is accountable for the physical condition of the building inside and out. Is responsible for the general security of the branch, including but not limited to, branch cash limits.
- Maintain high service standards for all customers (internal and external) working closely with managers and staff.
- Direct and manage work performed managers / supervisors / staff by contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the branch.
- Hold timely performance evaluations for staff, rewarding good performance as well as providing redirection to underachiever’s performance. Maintain good communication with staff. Work with Human Resource Manager on human resource issues. Promote employee growth and development and extraordinary service quality.
- Maintain a current awareness of legal and regulatory developments and guidelines, and current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and issues related to compliance for the Bank.
- Oversee, implement, and train employees on new bank products, High Performance Growth, policies, and procedures, including computer conversions.
- Provide support to staff with complex transactions and sensitive customer relations situations.
- Establish and help to attain internal performance objectives as identified in First Security Bank’s Strategic Plan to include Service Pledge, branch volume, deposits, and quality of audit reports
- Provide assistance for Account Specialist and Teller area as required.
- Complete cash exceptions, correct ticket errors for entries made incorrectly to various general ledgers.
- Monitor check lists and complete all duties as assigned.
- Complete morning overdrafts, online banking requests and replies daily.
- Timekeeper on the Ulti-pro system and schedule work hours for tellers and new accounts.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.
- Regular and predictable attendance to accomplish job duties and provide in-person contact with customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
- 2 years supervisory or management experience required.
- 2 years lending experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
- Provides quality level of service to all customers all the time. Follows through to resolve customer problems promptly and professionally. Takes ownership of the problems until resolved
- Prioritizes work effectively, manages time efficiently.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- PC and computer application experience.
- Knowledge of Bank Operational procedures and Compliance.
- Effectively supervise all levels of employees.
- Communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Work well under pressure; meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Work independently and as an active team member by sharing and accepting suggestions and ideas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: sit; use hands in repetitive motions to finger, grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to: stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: The employee is constantly required to stand and walk. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
