Newport Beach law firm is seeking to hire a skillful and knowledgeable Senior Counsel I
to join our practice which focuses on land-use issues for our clients’ multimillion dollar

As Senior Counsel I, you will be an integral part of our company's success and manage
challenging and complex cases. Responsibilities will include handling trials as first chair
or second chair as warranted. This position is responsible for overseeing complex
business and real estate litigation cases.
This firm is located in Newport Beach. Will consider remote/hybrid for the right
candidate.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing complex business and real estate litigation
cases. Your expertise in drafting and responding to discovery, conducting depositions,
and first-chair civil trial experience, leading arbitrations and hearings will be critical to
obtaining optimal outcomes for clients. You will also collaborate with the firms principal
in terms of legal strategy, collaborating on cases and guaranteeing exceptional results
for clients. Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications:
Qualifications
Minimum of 8-15 years of experience practicing law with a focus on business and
real estate litigation
Demonstrated ability to bill a minimum 1,700 billable hours per year
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the California State Bar with no disciplinary record
Proven track record of drafting and responding to discovery, taking and defending
depositions
Experience in representing clients at hearings, mediation and arbitrations
SENIOR COUNSEL I
Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence and substantive law in the areas of
business litigation and/or real estate law
Outstanding research, analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
Proven ability to efficiently handle multiple cases and consistently meet deadlines
and prioritize tasks
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
environment
Following experience is considered a plus:
Experience working with municipalities
Complex litigation experience
Construction defect experience
Candidates who have any publications such as legal articles, published appellate cases
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Manage a variety of complex litigation cases related to business and land-use
Serve as the primary attorney in civil trials and arbitrations
Execute legal research, analysis and case strategy development
Draft and answer discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for
production, take and requests for admission
Conduct/defend depositions of percipient and expert witnesses
Draft and argue motions including motions for dismissal and motions in limine
Engage in settlement negotiations and other dispute resolution methods when
required
Provide legal advice to clients concerning potential risks and strategies associated
with litigation
