MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and no felony convictions.
THE PROCESS
Applicants must submit an application, pass an oral interview, a fitness test, psychological exam and a background check.
SALARY/BENEFITS
- The starting hourly rate is $26.19 per hour. Pay increases after 6 month and a year of service.
- There is a shift differential for nights and weekends of $2.25 per hour as well as education/ training pay incentives.
- Upon being hired there is a $2000 sign on bonus with an additional $2000 upon completion of probationary period of 1 year.
- Lateral transfers that are POST certified get a $3000 sign on bonus with an additional $3000 upon completion of a probationary period of 1 year.
- There are three options for health insurance: a single medical plan, in-lieu of benefits, or a health savings plan.
- All duty gear, uniforms, bullet proof vest and weapons are provided by the department.
