Position Overview:
The Tempering Operator will perform a wide range of duties. This position requires the handling of glass and various other products related to the glass industry. As a Tempering operator you will play a vital role in processing different types and sizes of glass through the tempering furnace and performing tests to verify the product meets safety glazing standards.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the tempering furnace for all heat-treated glass.
- Stage and process glass to be heat treated as required.
- Ensure Glass is processed to Co. quality standards.
- Ensure oven meets daily sq ft goals.
- Read, follow, and complete the daily production schedule for the tempering furnace.
- Monitor the tempering process, ensuring that temperatures, times, and cooling rates meet specifications.
- Make appropriate adjustments to tempering recipes as necessary.
- Process all orders to meet on time delivery.
- Perform tests to verify the product meets safety glazing standards.
- Document inspection results and maintain records of the tempering process Initiate re-issues as needed.
- Follow all safety practices and procedures.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area at all times.
- Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the tempering process.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with tempering or glass processing.
- Strong knowledge of tempering equipment and glass processing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical production orders and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality glass production.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or production issues.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
