POSITION SUMMARY
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded in 2022 by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and needs a Aerial Groundman to help us flourish. GRC looks to leverage the latest technologies and utilize the best-in- industry equipment, construction, and safety practices to build a first-class nationwide fiber optic construction firm. The Aerial Groundman plays a vital role in assisting the aerial construction team by providing ground support, preparing materials, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of daily tasks. This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth in the telecom and utility construction field. This position will report to the Market Manager and represents an opportunity to join an excellent team on the ground floor and learn a lot as GRC grows!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist aerial linemen with materials, tools, and equipment during the installation and maintenance of overhead fiber optic and telecom networks.
- Load, unload, and organize tools and materials at job sites.
- Operate basic equipment such as reel trailers, pulling machines, and small tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site by properly storing materials and disposing of waste.
- Provide traffic control and safety support as needed.
- Perform basic inspections of tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Follow directions from foremen and linemen to complete tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to all company and safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (Class A CDL is a plus).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Basic knowledge of tools and construction practices (preferred).
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in telecom, construction, or utility work (a plus but not required).
- Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA and traffic control regulations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
