POSITION SUMMARY
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded in 2022 by a team of career telecom and
construction professionals and is in need of a Director of Procurement to help us flourish.
GRC looks to leverage the latest technologies and utilize the best-in-industry equipment,
construction, and safety practices to build a first-class nationwide fiber optic construction
firm. The successful candidate must be adept in data management, negotiations, and
operations, be excited about opportunities to learn and grow in their career and be able to
execute various projects at a time. This position will report to the VP Procurement and
Vendor Management and represents an opportunity to join an excellent team on the ground
floor and learn a lot as GRC grows!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Procurement is responsible for leading and managing the procurement
strategy for all materials and subcontracted services required for telecommunications
construction projects. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality,
compliance, and timely delivery to support business operations. Duties and responsibilities
include:
Key responsibilities include:
● Develop and implement procurement strategies and procedures to optimize cost,
quality, and efficiency.
● Oversee sourcing, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship
management.
● Manage RFx processes to achieve best cost and service outcomes for our customers.
● Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, business operations, and
finance to align procurement with business needs.
● Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process
improvements.
● Negotiate terms and agreements with vendors and subcontractors to ensure
favorable conditions.
● Develop and implement policies and procedures for procurement operations.
● Mitigate supply chain risks and ensure contingency planning for critical materials
and services.
● Coordinate materials and equipment tracking
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
● Strong technical/business knowledge
● Experience in data management
● Excellence in building rapport and creating a team environment where all those
with project responsibilities work well together
● Ability to maintain a high level of organization
● Excellence in planning how each process should be done, how resources are to be
acquired, and when the project should be completed
● Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them
● Ability to welcome feedback and use it to improve the quality of production
● Excellence in verbal and oral communication skills
● Strong technology skills including ability to learn new systems easily and leverage
reporting and data analysis tools within software programs.
● Travel of 10% will be required.

● Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Zoho, and project management tools a
