What are the responsibilities and job description for the Calibration Technician position at Glatt Group?
General Information:
- Travel Requirement: Up to 80% (half local, the rest overnight) to customer sites for instrument calibration, preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair services on Glatt equipment.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration of pneumatic and electronic control instruments in compliance with FDA and NIST standards.
- Support the GAT Pharmaceutical Services Division with instrumentation calibration.
- Interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Maintain computer literacy and database knowledge.
- Education: Two-year degree in engineering technology, or 5 to 7 years of related experience.
- Technical Skills Required:
- Calibration experience with temperature, airflow, pressure, and moisture-sensing instrumentation.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, computers, and control system components.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceutical process equipment.
- Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of OSHA and NEC/NFPA guidelines (ARC Flash training required).
- Ability to work while standing on a ladder.
- Knowledge or prior training in confined space entry for potential access to confined spaces within Glatt-supplied equipment under customer supervision.
Job Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Perform scheduled instrument calibration at customer sites and in the Glatt Pharmaceutical Division in accordance with written calibration procedures.
- Update calibration records in the database and prepare calibration certificates.
- Follow and proactively manage the schedule for Pharma division and customer equipment calibration; coordinate calibration activities with the Pharma division.
- Make travel arrangements for customer visits based on the calibration schedule; ensure all necessary items are arranged.
- Prepare documents for field visits in a timely and professional manner, including calibration reports, field reports, daily labor logs, and expense reports.
- Maintain current certification of all individual and departmental NIST traceable calibration standards.
- Assist the Pharmaceutical Services Division in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of in-house equipment, utilities, and BAS systems.
- Stay current with all SOP trainings; recommend improvements to calibration procedures for greater efficiency.
- Establish, maintain, and enhance client relationships to encourage the maintenance or purchase of calibration/preventive maintenance contracts.
- Present a professional and competent image to Glatt staff and clients, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting the growth of Glatt Air Techniques, Inc.
- Maintain an organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
