Senior Scientist

GSK is currently looking for a Senior Scientist to join our team in Rockville, MD. In this role, you'll be involved in all aspects of the development of cell culture processes for the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals including initial process screening, optimization and characterization, validation, scale-up and tech transfer to internal or external manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform bench/pilot-scale laboratory experiments to develop, characterize and /or validate cell culture processes for production of biopharmaceuticals
• Compile, analyze, communicate experimental results; identifies and troubleshoots problems
• Describe experimental results in the form of written reports and presentations
• Work seamlessly within a team
• Laboratory duties as required
• Independently design experiments
• Represent the team in cross functional meetings
• Understands experiments in the broader scope of projects
• Provides SME support for manufacturing

This position is a laboratory role and as such presence onsite is required. Work hours are a minimum 40 hours per week but depend on the experiments being performed. Weekend and off schedule work could be required. Occasional travel could be requested.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• BS/BA Degree with 4 years of GMP experience OR MS Degree with 2 years of GMP experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

• Ability to work in team environment
• Candidate should have knowledge of manufacturing processes for biopharmaceuticals, scale-up requirements and technology transfer to manufacturing sites.
• Knowledge of statistical process design/characterization is helpful.
