You will be responsible for designing, managing and optimizing network infrastructure, ensuring high performance, security and reliability across multiple U.S locations. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams, participate in executing major projects, and make recommendations for system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure and deploy LAN/WAN infrastructure that meets both current and future business requirements.
- Configure, implement and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki gateways, switches, and wireless access points.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS and VPNs.
- Assess network risks and perform contingency planning.
- Perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 network troubleshooting and optimization to ensure seamless communication across devices and applications.
- Analyze packet captures (Wireshark, etc) to troubleshoot complex network performance issues.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches and security configurations.
- Coordinate with ISPs to address connectivity issues and oversee circuit installations and upgrades.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities in the network architecture.
- Implement proactive solutions and conduct thorough root cause analysis for critical issues.
- Architect, design and implement Intune solutions for modern device management.
- Design and manage enterprise backup solutions (Synology NAS).
- Administer and optimize Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DFS replication, DNS, DHCP and GPOs.
- Configure and deploy VMWare ESXi hosts, ensuring the proper setup and integration of storage, networking and resources to support a reliable and efficient VMWare environment.
- Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment and patching processes.
- Support the EDI solution (OpenText, Cleo Lexicom) and work with vendors to resolve issues.
- Conduct consistent testing and validation of backup and disaster recovery procedures to confirm readiness for potential incidents.
- Assist with mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions of network and system infrastructure.
- Travel to branches, as needed, to support infrastructure refresh initiatives, address critical wireless needs, or to address any issues affecting the production environment. (25% travel)
- Share your expertise, mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain documentation regarding network architecture, system configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
- Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network environment.
- Respond to infrastructure-related and escalated tickets.
- Participate in a shared rotation of off-hours on-call support to address critical issues.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of proven experience working as an Infrastructure or Network Engineer.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CMSS, etc) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience designing, implementing and managing complex infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience working within TCP/IP networks – LAN, WAN, wLAN and vLAN technologies required.
- Experience configuring, deploying and troubleshooting routers, switches, and wireless access points. Experience with Meraki gateways, switches and wireless access points is a plus.
- Experience with routing and switching protocols and services (BGP, OSPF, RSTP, STP, UDLD, BPDU Guard) and their practical applications.
- Proven experience configuring and managing firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies and QoS.
- Experience with wireless networking (Cisco Meraki, Aruba).
- Solid understanding of the OSI model.
- Experience with monitoring, analyzing and evaluating network performance to ensure system availability and traffic flow optimization.
- Expertise in deploying and maintaining networking equipment, physical servers and other hardware components in data center environments and remote locations.
- Expertise required in Active Directory and Azure AD Management, AAD Sync, SSO/ADFS.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (PRTG, Site 24X7, Wireshark, packet analysis).
- In-depth problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, along with a strong understanding of the dependencies that exist between systems, servers and network-based components.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting backup solutions.
- Expert level PowerShell experience preferred.
- Strong Office 365 administration experience, MFA, conditional access policies.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Intune (Autopilot, configuration policies, migration of On-Prem GPOs to Intune).
- Experience with Microsoft Tenant-to-Tenant migrations.
- Experience with VMWare vSphere and VMWare migrations, as well as Windows Server 20xx environments (DNS, DHCP, GPO, DFS replication).
- Advanced experience developing, implementing, troubleshooting and auditing Group Policies.
- Project based experience extending Active Directory to cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
- Experience supporting both internal (Active Directory) and externally hosted DNS platforms.
- Proven experiencing managing complex DNS infrastructures with multiple domains, sites, and egress points.
- Familiarity with the following Microsoft technologies: IIS, KMS, WSUS, RDS licensing, AD DS, AD CS, and WDS.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to articulate technical details to a range of audiences, including those without a technical background.
- Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with ITIL.
- Experience with cloud networking technologies and network automation.
- SQL Server experience.
- Experience creating network diagrams (MS Visio)
- Experience with CLI-based configuration (Aruba, Cisco)
