What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist/Operator position at GLC Industries?
Summary/Objective:
Experienced CNC machinist to program, set-up, and operate machinery in batch lot production environment. Knowledge of Fanuc-type controls, inspection equipment and quality methods is required. This position reports to the Operations Manager-Machining.
Essential Functions:
- Setup machines to work orders, drawings, material specifications and machining parameters.
- Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers and offsets.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to AS9100D standards.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
- Proactive and problem-solving mindset.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This job operates in an air-conditioned, factory environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, non-exempt level position. 1st Shift: M-F, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd Shift, M-Th, generally 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Travel:
Occasional on-the-job travel between varying local facilities is expected.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an apprenticeship or training program.
- Journeyman-level experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Experience working with various metal and plastic materials.
- Technical ability and basic math skills.
Preferred Experience:
- The ideal candidate has 3 years experience in CNC mill/lathe operation.
