JOB SUMMARY

The Applications Engineering Supervisor (AES) will be responsible for providing high-level application skills to the MMT team of Applications Engineers and Technicians by coordinating, monitoring, and supervising the performance of the applications group. AES will provide oversight of the customer’s experience through the machine purchase process and ensure that customer product and service needs are met through the proper solution specification. The position works closely with internal manufacturing stakeholders, engineering, and sales resources to produce manufacturing machine recommendations that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role will provide clear direction and priorities, model appropriate behaviors and successfully deliver quality products in a timely and precise manner.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
The Applications Engineering Supervisor (AES) will provide reliable and timely support in the following functions:

• Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and facilitate necessary changes.
• Facilitate Communication between Inside and Outside Sales Resources, Engineering and Operations
• Create machine costing for sales quotation (in conjunction with Engineering as needed)
• Ensure customers receive product samples via applications engineering, according to customer expectations.
• Support custom machine quote process.
• Final machine approval of customer order prior to shipment
• Maintain, create, and document processes for Sales, Customer Service, and Samples
• Resolve/Communicate any issue regarding manufacturing or delivery delay with clients if they occur.
• Maintain Customer Satisfaction
• Maintain a high level of knowledge on client goals.
• Supervises team including Applications Engineer(s) and Applications Technician(s)
• Maintain communication among project stakeholders to clients’ satisfaction.
• Attend customer visits and trade shows as needed.

• Work with applications engineers in diagnosing/testing machines for application readiness and quality
• Plan, coordinate, and support machine installation and training by applications engineers at customer facility. (Domestic and Int’l travel)
• Report machine recommendations to fulfill Sales quotes, based on customer requirements.
• Ensure applications engineers are part of tooling and machine design and review process
• Act as technical support resource for Customer Service and Contract Service departments
• Drives quality and efficiency improvements in Application department and throughout the organization.
• Assists in establishing appropriate expectations from customers and ensure that delivered products meet these specifications.
• Sets priorities and delegate tasks during critical situations where multiple projects must be handled simultaneously.
• Ensures successful completion and project management of assignments for the applications engineers as they relate to machine testing, onsite installations, new applications testing, tooling development, and manual writing.
• Establishes effective communication channels, internal and external.
• Participates in the development of functional policies, processes, standards, and guidelines.
• Assist Customer Service, Contract Services, and Manufacturing with technical needs that arise in servicing customers and producing quality products.
• Participates in regular meetings with staff to align objectives and assign tasks.
• Ensure applications engineer process reports are complete, useful, and concise
• Coordinate the tooling needs for projects with Production and Engineering Managers (or others) involved in producing first article samples.
• Ensure quality output of formed components.
• Performs all other duties as needed to assist the company in attaining its objectives.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position may require lifting, moving and assembly of various machine parts and machinery up to 50 lbs. May require standing, stooping, and bending for long periods of time as needed to interact with machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, BME or ME preferred.
• Experience: 3 Years related work experience preferred. Experience can be substituted with a related degree and internship experience.
• Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills and modeling appropriate behaviors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed in interactions with customers and MMT team members.
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office & Windows, project management tools.
  • Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings and technical documentation.
  • MRP/ERP experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking and systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to function in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be HANDS-ON and be willing to work on the floor.
  • Understand customer requirements and applications.
  • Task oriented, strong analytical skills, and well organized.
  • Aptitude to learn and be a strong team player.
  • Have a high level of energy, positive attitude, and possess a selfless attitude for the benefit of MMT.
  • Advanced Customer Service skills.
  • Comfortable discussing technical details in English and Spanish is desired.
  
  

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will require the ability to work under pressing conditions in a professional and responsive manner. Must have a CAN-DO attitude to drive projects through to completion, displaying the ability to obtain results through an influential demeanor. In addition, the position requires:

• Moderate travel to customer sites with varying work environments
• Valid U.S. Passport for travel
• Work in varying environments and conditions, primarily in a controlled environment
