Ackerman SFC Summer Camps Counselor
If you enjoy working with kids in a sports-centric environment that encourages community, athletics, and fun, then the Ackerman SFC Summer Camps Counselor position is for you! As a Camp Counselor at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center, you will engage with youth by leading and organizing games, sports, and activities with fellow Camp Counselors to ensure all participants have a blast! Encourage a competitive spirit while exhibiting cooperation and good sportsmanship while building confidence and leadership skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planning games and activities for various camps including Ackerman Sports and Fun Camp, Lightsaber Camp, Flag Football Camp, and many more!
- Engaging with participants while utilizing facility space and equipment to execute effective camp activities.
- Enforcing safety procedures for both campers and fellow staff members while having FUN!
- Capacity to work well independently and collaborating with other Camp Counselors and staff.
- Effective communication skills to interact with and update facility managers and provide information and updates to parents as needed.
- Providing guidance, motivation and support to all campers.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:
- The ideal candidate will be outgoing, reliable, self-motivated, and creative with a strong interest in working with children.
- Prior experience working with children of multiple ages is recommended.
- Minimum age is 16 with previous camp experience is a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate with participants, their parents, and the public.
- Ability to run, play games/sports and engage in physical activities that may require quick movements and agility.
- Able to maintain attention, high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, such as equipment, supplies, or backpacks.
- Strong voice and listening skills with the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Must have adequate sight to observe participants and identify potential hazards.
- Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters and/or information.
- Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication with the capacity to learn other systems/applications.
- CPR / First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire. (We will provide this training.)
- Reliable transportation to and from work is required.

Please Note: Ackerman Sports and Fun Camps run during the summer AND at various times throughout the year during school breaks and holidays. There are opportunities to work in additional positions for additional hours.
