Glen-Gery, one of the nation’s leading brick manufacturers, is looking for an Experienced PLC Controls Technician / Maintenance professional to join the team at our Hanley plant located in Summerville, PA.
As the site’s PLC Controls Technician you will be responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining production equipment. You will attend, manage and rectify electrical/automation breakdowns for the site and actively work through electrical/automation projects to improve the site. Although not the primary focus of this role you will also assist in the mechanical requirements for the site as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee plant wide PLC system maintenance and upgrades
- Design, program, repair and maintain the sites electrical, control, network, robotic and PLC systems
- Diagnostics, Inspection and optimization of equipment, including maintenance of PLC systems
- Communicate with manufacturers on the design and costing of new or replacement equipment
- Monitor and progress particular projects from design stage to commissioning
- Assist at plant level in carrying out trials for product and/or process development
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Advanced experience in electrical control systems, PLC design, installation, programming, optimization and breakdown analysis
- High level of knowledge, skills and practical experience with automated PLC’s including Allen Bradley & Siemens (RSLogix500 and RSLogix5000, Micrologix ,SLC, Compactlogix)
- Read, understand, change and manage complex machine code with a high level of comprehension and accuracy (ladder logic, sequential function charts, function block diagram and structured text)
- High level of knowledge, skills and practical experience with industrial networks including DeviceNet, DH , Interbus, Modbus and Ethernet
- Experience in mechanical systems including conveyors, gear boxes, motors, chains, sprockets, seals, bearings, hydraulics, pumps and pneumatics
- Possess project management skills, leading the electrical scheduling and compliance
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical Degree/Certification preferred or equivalent experience
- Requires 2 to 5 years of production related experience with PLC’s and automation
- Ability to work an on call rotation schedule
