The Director of Nursing plays a critical role in overseeing the operational and strategic management of nursing services within the organization. Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing management.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure optimal functionality of all equipment and systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contracts for facility services.
- Ensure that all documentation related to nursing operations is accurate and up-to-date, including medical records and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with administration to ensure that facilities meet the needs of residents, including adherence to resident rights.
- Provide training and support to nursing staff regarding facility protocols and emergency procedures.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements and documentation review processes.
- Familiarity with Skilled Nursing Facility practices and resident rights regulations.
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology, Medicare guidelines, and medical records management.
- Solid foundation in anatomy knowledge as it pertains to facility operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with staff, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to analyze systems for efficiency improvements within facility operations.
