What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Coordinator position at Glen Meadows Retirement Community?
The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for overall resident nutrition, quality control, diet modification, meal distribution, nutrition care plans and documentation. This position assists the Director of Food Services in routine operation of department; this includes preparation of Heath Center dining areas. This role provides supervision to Dietary Clerk and Health Center food services staff.
Qualifications:
- Current Certified Dietary Managers Certification or State Qualified Dietician (Long-term care)
- Minimum Two years supervisory experience as Nutrition Coordinator
- High School diploma or GED
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Must relate well to employees, residents and visitors
- Prior experience in geriatric setting preferred
- Must be able to work independently
- Excellent time management skills
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Completes all applicable nutrition assessment, goal planning and charting documentation through active participation in the Comprehensive Residents Assessment and Interdisciplinary Care Planning Process.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of food services policies, procedures and objectives.
- Assists with the creation of daily menu specials in accordance with all applicable Presbyterian Senior Living policies/procedures and applicable state/federal regulations.
- Actively participates in the food services Quality Assurance Program.
- Assists with the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, supervision, appraisals and implementation of corrective action for food services staff; completes all required record keeping related to these processes.
- Assists the Director of Food Services, at least annually, evaluates job performance of food services staff.
- Prepares schedules for assigned staff within budgetary guidelines to quality meal service.
- Conducts regular staff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing policies and procedures regarding quality resident food service.
- Assists Director of Food Services in maintenance of accurate daily and monthly meal counts.
- Assists the Director of Food Services in the development of the annual food services budget.
- Maintains records, prepares and submits reports as required by community policy and governmental agencies.
- Acts in the absence of the Director of Food Services and/or Assistant Director of Food Services.
- Assists Director of Food Services in maintaining safety of kitchen work area.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work area in compliance with established guidelines.
- Assures maintenance of a clean and sanitary work area in compliance with established guidelines though daily inspections of work areas, dining room and pantry area.
- Enforces food services department cleaning schedule.
