GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Career and Transfer Coordinator is a temporary, grant funded position (with the possibility of renewal after June 30, 2026). The Career and Transfer Coordinator serves as the Project Director for the Innovation Investment Award (IIA) grant and is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the grant objectives. The Career and Transfer Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, employers, students, and other post-secondary institutions to build or enhance career and transfer pathways to provide opportunities for seamless transfer of credits, career development, and career placement for Glen Oaks Community College students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a liaison between the college, employers, and partnering colleges and universities for the GO2UO program and similar agreements.
- Create seamless pathways to baccalaureate degrees for GOCC students through joint admissions, co-enrollment, and aligned support services between the college and partnering institutions.
- Develop processes to align student support services between the college and partnering institutions.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications department to develop a communication plan and content to recruit adult learners for associate to baccalaureate degree programs.
- Adopt Guided Pathways, ASAP, and ACE program recommendations to incentivize students to complete their degrees.
- Work collaboratively with the Admissions Department to capture prospective students’ career intent and co-enroll students into partnership programs.
- Work with Advising to ensure seamless transfer between GOCC and partner institutions.
- Collaborate with the Office of Academics and local businesses to develop work-based learning opportunities, such as internships, externships, job shadowing, etc.
- Work collaboratively with the Office of Academics to determine students’ eligibility for credit for prior learning as applicable.
- Develop systems and processes for dual admissions, co-enrollment, and data-sharing with partner organizations and colleges.
- Utilize the college’s student information system to track student progress toward degree completion for transfer or career placement.
- Manage the IIA grant budget and ensure expenditures are aligned with the proposed grant budget.
- Respond to requests from, and provide periodic reports to, the VP of Academics and VP of Student Services regarding grant objectives.
- Performs administrative duties related to the maintenance and efficiency of career and transfer programs.
- Respond to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. students, parents, faculty, staff, outside agencies) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as required for the GO2UO program and similar partnerships.
- Develops new contacts with external businesses or organizations to expand employment opportunities for students.
- Serve as a central location for student transfer and career questions, building systems to develop a foundation for a future career and transfer center.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academics.
- Attend and participate in meetings, training, or conferences as assigned.
- Provide individual and/or small group case management for students to ensure effective, wrap-around transfer and career services and support.
- Maintaining accurate data and records of student interactions
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the position.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
- Ability to communicate with small and large groups, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Relevant experience in educational or business settings, such as advising, career and placement services, or employment training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in educational or business settings, such as advising, career and placement services, or employment training.
- Grant management experience.
- Knowledge of established and emerging trends, standards, and practices in higher education, student development, retention, and student learning.
