What are the responsibilities and job description for the OR Scrub Technician position at Glenbeigh Hospital?
Summary
The OR Surgical Technician will perform various direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of the licensed caregiver. Assist the surgeon by performing duties relating to the scrub role. Adheres to the surgical policies and procedures regarding: scrubbing, gowning, gloving, sponge, needle and instrument counts, handling and labeling of specimens with accurate documentation, and maintaining sterile techniques. Correctly identifies and passes instruments. Anticipates surgeon needs. Assists in cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of instruments and operation of sterilizers with appropriate record keeping. All other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Graduate of or Certificate through an approved Surgical Scrub Technician program
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands
- Ability to work in high stress area
- Excellent customer service skills
Required Length and Type of Experience
2-3 years of clinical experience, preferred
Required Licensure or Certification
Current BLS certification required
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Required full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients. Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Requires working under stressful
