What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN, Paramedic position at Glenbeigh Hospital?
General Summary
Performs a variety of duties to assist the nursing staff in rendering patient care in the Emergency Department within the limit of the State of Ohio certification guidelines. The Paramedic will work under the direction of the RN and will be expected to provide patient care coordination with the registered nurse and medical staff. The Paramedic will be proficient in providing patient care and documentation of any care provided to the patient.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of clinical practice applicable to population served, including pathophysiology, emergency management, and evaluation. Demonstrates effective leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities to include basic hygiene, skin care, feeding, normal vital signs and other general hands-on patient care functions normally attained through one or more years of formal training.
A minimum of one year recent patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare field. Five years of experience in an Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit, or Critical Transport service, preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
Current license State of Ohio EMT - Paramedic
Current ACLS certification
BTLS or the equivalent preferred
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing situations. Standing and walking required 85% of the shift. Must be able to push carts and wheelchairs and assist in lifting/turning/repositioning patients.
