What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Maintenance 1 (Full-Time) position at Glencoe Park District?
The Parks Maintenance 1 position is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the parks run by the Glencoe Park District. Some tasks that would be performed, but are not limited to, include playground repairs, general park equipment maintenance, layout of sports fields, and maintenance of the Weinberg Family Recreation Center ice rink. Candidates for this position should exhibit versatility, flexibility, and initiative.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of experience in grounds maintenance or related field.
- Valid Illinois Class D Driver’s License required.
- Trade-specific certification preferred.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required or must be obtained within six months.
- Pesticide Operator License, Forklift Operator Certification, and Chainsaw Operator Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of ground maintenance, hand tools, grounds equipment, and general landscaping
- Knowledge of industrial equipment
Dates and Hours:
This is an hourly position, and the hours will primarily be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a half-hour for lunch, Monday through Friday. The weekly schedule may change based on work-related or seasonal needs, and may include nights and weekends as requested, typically at least one weekend a month. Due to the nature of park district programming, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours are to be expected.
