Position: Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) Department: Laboratory Location: Glencoe, Minnesota Relocation Eligible: within the United States Position Type: Full Time Hours Per 2-week Pay Period: 80 Shift: Days Schedule: Block schedule with hours of 6am-2:30pm, 8am-4:30pm and 9am-5:30pm Weekend Rotation: every 7th from 6am-6pm Holiday Rotation: 2-3 per year Position Summary: The MLT/MLS is responsible for performing clinical testing in the following areas: processing, phlebotomy, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, and blood banking. This position will assist in drawing blood samples from patients of all ages. The technician will assist in the training and supervision of new employees and students rotating through the department. They are responsible for all paperwork necessary to operate a clinical laboratory. Position ensures patient confidentiality is always maintained. Education and Experience:
- Must have either an associate or bachelor’s degree and be certified as a medical laboratory scientist or medical laboratory technician from an accrediting board and holds ASCP certification or will obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
- Excellent customer service skill set is required. Tact, diplomacy, empathy and positive interpersonal skills are required in communicating with patients, co-workers, and health care professionals.
- Able to work autonomously and as a contributing member of the team.
- CPR certification is encouraged but not required.
- Candidate must pass test for color blindness and meet the physical job requirements of the role.
- Must be proficient with windows-based computer systems.
- Previous EMR experience helpful. Excellian (Epic) knowledge a plus!
