Senior Desk Risk Manager - Crude

The Glencore Risk Department is an independent function aiming to control front-line trading. The Risk Department ensures that the risk-reward of the trading books is properly understood by Glencore senior management and that the physical exposure of the business - e.g. oil cargoes, electricity generation, gas deliveries - is correctly valued.
This position requires the individual to lead the product risk coverage of a physical crude oil book. The role encompasses a large number of responsibilities : production and explain of P&L and exposures, cargo valuation and daily pricing, daily hedging of complex physical transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead risk coverage of the US Crude books : Responsible for calculating and running daily risk reports, including the desk's P&L and exposures. This involves a full explain of the P&L drivers from changes in market prices and the physical movement of oil cargoes or gas molecules.
- Managerial responsibility for a team of 2-3 junior risk managers based in Houston and Mexico City.
- Ensure the accuracy of the book of records - cargo valuation and daily pricing, complex hedging of financial exposure - in a context of high financial markets volatility.
- To communicate results effectively with traders, physical operators, and senior risk management
- To proactively identify and communicate issues and material changes in the portfolio to senior risk management to ensure that reports or measurements present a true reflection of the business.
- Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time.
