About the role:
Glencore is looking for U1 to master’s level students that are interested in the mining industry to work on our closed site for sixteen (16) weeks. The candidate will be based in the township of Salmon for the duration of the internship/ summer employment. The candidate will be expected to be comfortable working in remote areas, doing around 70% field work and 30% administrative work. This paid internship will be from May 5 th to August 29 th . Local students will be prioritized for this role.

About the role:

In this role, you will:
- Assistance with the collection of water samples (surface water and groundwater).
- Learn and assist with the operations of the Water Treatment Plant and its associated activities.
- Clean and calibrate monitoring instruments pH, turbidity, conductivity probes.
- Assist with the maintenance of environmental database for the site.
- Review, gather and enter data for routine reporting requirements.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of site related procedures and documents.
- Assist with preventative Maintenance system development as well as conducting some do the PM activities.
- Assist with projects as required (e.g. Revegetation, aquatic studies, building maintenance).
- Host new contractors around the site.
- Assist with health and safety documents, permits and Safe work activities.
- Assist with outdoor activities such as brushing of Dams, roadways, pipelines, and powerlines.
- Class G drivers license
- Experience operating off-road vehicles such as ATVs.
- Willingness to learn and be part of a safe work Culture.
- Engineering or Environmental schooling associated with but not limited to mining.
