Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, performs a full range of duties involving accounting, record keeping, filing, and clerical work. Must be well versed in electronic transmission. The Billing Specialist will possess a genuine interest in and concern for geriatric, chronically ill and/or disabled persons. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY
A thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to all billing practices. Must possess a working knowledge of accounts receivable and collection practices and is effective in establishing and maintaining rapport with staff, residents, outside vendors, clients, and auditors. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for creating and sending monthly statements to all payers, ensuring timeliness and accurately of all claims.
Responsible to bill all Medicare, ALTCS, Managed Care, Hospice, Co-insurance, Assisted Living and any other third party billing, accurately and timely.
Manages accounts receivable to avoid delinquent accounts.
Serves as contact for patient billing inquiries.
Possesses a working knowledge of all peripheral computer equipment software.
Possesses a working knowledge of billing all managed care, Medicare, and Arizona Long Term Care claims.
Assists residents with their patient trust fund.
Possesses knowledge of daily census, cash receipts, etc. Provides back-up function to other Business Officer personnel.
Reviews all claims prior to billing for accuracy.
Makes collection calls when necessary.
Verifies insurance coverage upon admissions.
Creates resident folders and ensures all documents are reviewed and filed.
Manages the patient files to ensure all paperwork is filed appropriately and timely.
Performs other duties as assigned.
