The Performing Arts Department is currently hiring Instructional Support Clerk Substitutes for basic technical support with performances.
Definition
Under general supervision, performs routine instructional support and clerical duties by assisting the instructor with classroom preparation and lesson-based activities and maintaining classroom materials, equipment, and records; prepares materials for classroom exercises, workshops, demonstrations, and assignments; reinforces instruction and concepts presented by the instructor; maintains digital and hard copy records and files; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision
Works under the direct supervision of the department manager.
Do not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to temporary employees, and/or student workers.
Work schedule may vary to include evenings and weekends based upon performance schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed in this classification.
Performs routine instructional support and clerical duties by assisting instructors with classroom preparation and lesson-based activities and maintaining classroom materials, equipment, and records.
Prepares materials for classroom exercises, workshops, demonstrations, and assignments as directed; copies and distributes handouts.
Reinforces instruction, terminology, concepts, principles, and techniques presented by the instructor; explains assignments to one or more students and guiding them in the use of equipment and materials to perform class activities.
Tracks student participation and attendance and informs instructors of noted issues or problems.
Maintains accurate and organized digital and hard copy records and files, including those pertaining to student attendance, performance, and progress in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
Answers general questions from students, employees, and others regarding general instructional services and procedures; shows students how to access and use website, email accounts, and learning management system.
Disseminates information to students, appropriate staff, and departments.
Maintains classroom facilities, equipment, and materials in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; maintains and stores equipment and materials after usage; notifies appropriate staff of needed equipment repair or replacement.
May proctor and score tests based on specific criteria provided by the course instructor. using testing software and equipment.
May assist with class supervision on field trips.
May provide work direction to student workers, and/or temporary employees.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The education, training, and experience qualifications are considered likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the above essential duties.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of clerical experience, including experience providing instructional assistance.
Licenses/Certifications/Other Requirements
None.
Knowledge of:
Academic subject in the area of assignment.
Classroom materials and equipment applicable to the academic subject.
General classroom procedures and rules of conduct.
Laws, regulations, standards, and requirements applicable to areas of assignment.
Clerical methods of data research, collection, compilation, organization, and reporting. Standard office practices or procedures.
Standard office software and modern office equipment.
Standard formats for business correspondence and other communications
Methods of filing information using alpha, numeric and alphanumeric systems.
Correct use of the English language, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Principles and practices of customer service.
Business arithmetic.
Ability to:
Assist students with instructional terminology, concepts, principles, and techniques.
Set up and demonstrate the proper utilization of equipment and materials.
Maintain class supplies and the classroom.
