Job Summary:
Glendale Communities is seeking a certified lifeguard for the swimming season to ensure swimmers safety in the pool area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed. For applicants without certification, upon hiring, Glendale will cover expense and enrollment in American Red Cross Lifeguard/AED/CPR Certification course with the understanding that you will complete the course and work the scheduled days throughout the 2025 swimming season.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the rules and regulations of the swimming pool are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
- Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
- Performs occasional pool cleaning and maintenance tasks such as vacuuming the pool and cleaning the drains.
- Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflict and complaints, as necessary.
- Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
- Maintains pool area, proper use of pool equipment and daily logs, records pool temperature and chemical levels.
- Maintains all required certifications, attends course to completion and all staff training sessions to practice skills and learn program standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.
- Excellent observational skills.
- Must have flexible schedule that will allow working dayshifts, weekends and some holidays.
- Ability to enforce pool regulations and rules.
Education and Experience:
- Must possess a valid Lifeguard / AED / CPR First-Aid Certification.
- Must be 16 years of age or older (working papers)
- Lifeguarding experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull weight through the water.
- Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water.
- Prolonged periods of being outdoors.
