What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Intervention Specialist position at Glendora Unified School District?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-The ability to design and model the implementation of effective behavioral programs with a foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other evidenced-based techniques for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or behavioral difficulties
- Train and supervise instructional aides related to the implementation of evidenced-based practices pertaining to supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and behavioral difficulties
- Consult with and provide insight and strategies to teachers, staff members, and parents related to the behavioral needs of students with special needs
- Provide BCBA-related supervision and leadership to school teams, including staff training/coaching, program development and data analysis
- Collaborate with District psychologists in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and IEP goals related to social/emotional/behavioral areas of need, social skills, and communication
- Case management responsibilities related to the IEP process for specific students, including supervision of behavioral services, ongoing monitoring of these services, tracking data related to these cases and recording this data on a regular basis, and facilitating collaboration between staff members and parents
- Attend IEP meetings and clearly presenting findings related to FBAs and BIPs in a parent-friendly manner
- Participate as a member of the District-wide crisis management team
- The ability and willingness to maintain certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and the ability and willingness to implement NCI training techniques as necessary
- Participate as a strong and effective team member and leader in certain special education related leadership initiatives
- Create and present professional development workshops to parents and staff members
