Overview Of Essential Functions
- Teach students basic techniques and encourage them to take the techniques further.
- Plan and implement an art show in the spring of a year’s worth of work for families and students.
- Display artwork throughout the building as a rotating installation.
- Work collaboratively with art department across schools.
- Showcase their own work and allow students to do the same.
- Team teaching with homeroom teachers.
- Order art supplies for teachers to use in their classrooms.
- Perform duties to keep students safe, such as hallway or bus monitoring, take attendance, monitor student behavior, create lesson plans, and grade assignments.
- Additional responsibilities include regular faculty meetings, the supervision of students during faculty duties, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
- A bachelor’s degree in education with a specialty in art is required with a dual teaching certification/degree preferred. The candidate’s coursework should include art, art history and the basics of design, developmental classes, computer classes, and basic teaching methodology.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an elementary classroom is preferred.
- Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is preferred.
- Experience with art history, multimedia, graphic design, and project-based learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills and practical oral and communication skills.
- A key skill needed is integrating the arts with core subject areas including technology.
- Encourage and inspire students to practice skills that may be uncomfortable at first.
- Well versed in visual and graphic arts to allow students to explore different mediums.
- Celebrate the creative talents of all artists regardless of the skill of the student.
Salary : $50,000 - $70,000
