What are the responsibilities and job description for the Janitor position at Glenkirk?
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing designated areas to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and safety in Glenkirk facilities.
SCOPE: Cleans, maintains, and organizes Glenkirk’s administrative and day program sites.
WORK PERFORMED
- Responsible for cleaning and meeting sanitary standards, as outlined for each program and working area including:
- Sweeping, mopping, polishing, and vacuuming floors;
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms;
- Dusting, wiping down, and sanitizing surfaces;
- Washing windows and mirrors;
- Taking out the trash and recycling.
- Follows a cleaning work schedule and additional requests, as needed;
- Performs minor repairs on equipment and fixtures, as appropriate;
- Maintains housekeeping tools and equipment to ensure they are organized, clean, and in good working condition;
- Ensures proper storage and labeling of cleaning chemicals and supplies;
- Assists supervisor in inventory and quality control of necessary supplies;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D., preferred.
Experience: One (1) or more years of housekeeping/industrial cleaning, preferred.
Knowledge: A working knowledge of sanitation standards and cleaning techniques preferred.
Physical requirements: Able to lift 44lbs; maneuvering, lifting, moving furniture and objects, bending, turning, reaching, scrubbing, standing for extended periods of time.
