The Roadway Maintenance Laborer is responsible for assisting labor crew and foremen in maintaining and repairing roads and highways. This includes reading roadway plans and drawings, using and caring for hand and power tools, and installing erosion and sediment control measures.

* Assist labor crew and foreman in reading roadway plans and drawings
* Use and care for hand and power tools
* Install erosion and sediment control measures
* Perform tasks involving maintenance and protection of traffic
* Develop skills required to perform as a member of the labor crew under direct supervision
Requirements
* Minimum of 18 years of age
* Evidence of a reasonable amount of intelligence and aptitude for the job
* Valid license (e.g., equipment operator, truck driver or highway)
* No previous experience as a journeyman
