Service Technician (Window and Door)

JOB SUMMARY:

Assemble and/or repair doors, windows, frames, trim, mouldings, and fixtures made of wood, or related materials. Responsible for performing a variety of jobs involved in the service of millwork, windows, doors, and hardware products. This includes fabrication of the product, set up and operation of various types of woodworking machinery, tools, warehousing operation, and preventive maintenance activity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Construct and assemble doors, windows, moulding, or other wood components, making sure all pieces fit the dimensions specified

• Operate table saw, planer, nail guns, and radial arm saw

• Verify and double-check all calculations to ensure alignment of doors, hinges, and side panels

• Fabricate special wooden parts and components as needed

• Glue and fit together assemblies or sub-assemblies using dowels, screws, clamps, or other devices to form complete units

• Responsible for scheduling service appointments, dealing with customers, homeowners, and builders

• Finish sand final product prior to finish and after repair

• Participates and actively works with others as a team, taking and accepting direction as given

• Ensures accuracy and quality of craftsmanship at all times

• Ensure that all products are assembled according to company standards and policies

• Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, training, rules, and guidelines

• Comply with best practices to achieve continuous process improvements and ensure total customer satisfaction.

• Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors

• Perform other duties as required

• Meet and exceed objectives set by the manager

• Provide complete and accurate documents, records, and files in both electronic and paper form

• Provide a professional and positive office image to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries and other interactions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience in the service field including but not limited to woodworking, reglazing doors and windows, using hand and power machinery and tools in the layout, milling, assembly, and repair of products made from wood and related materials

• Skilled in setting up and using woodworking tools and equipment required

• Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints; comprehend and write simple instructions and short correspondence by written word and email

• Ability to read a tape measure

• Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions

• Disciplined, dependable and resourceful

• Strong time management, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

• Must pass pre-employment physical/musculoskeletal exam

• Must pass drug screening

• Must pass an audiogram test

• Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds daily
