The Glens Falls City School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications for a Lunch Monitor at Kensington Elementary School. This is a part-time (10-month) position, working 3.5 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
Lunch Supervision
- Monitor students during lunch periods in the cafeteria and designated eating areas
- Assist younger students with opening food packages and cleaning up after meals
- Encourage proper table manners and appropriate social interactions
- Ensure students follow cafeteria rules and procedures
- Help maintain cleanliness of the lunch area
- Assist with food distribution as needed
Recess Supervision
- Supervise students on playground equipment and in play areas
- Enforce safety rules and appropriate behavior during outdoor/indoor recess
- Intervene in conflicts using appropriate conflict resolution techniques
- Monitor boundaries of play areas to ensure students remain in designated zones
General Duties
- Take attendance or account for all students during transitions
- Report behavioral issues to appropriate staff following school protocol
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate authority
- Assist with indoor recess activities during inclement weather
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student concerns
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work in various weather conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to work well with elementary-aged children
- NYS Fingerprint Clearance is required.
