GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB POSITION

The primary purpose of the job position is to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor as well as develop, coordinate, direct and administer our facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Must possess an LPN or higher.

 Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, orally and written.

 Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

 Must have ability to complete multiple projects.

 Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.

 Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

RESIDENT’S RIGHTS

 Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information

 Assure that the resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times.

 Review resident complaints and make written reports of action taken. Discuss with resident and family as appropriate.

 Assist in establishing and implementing Resident Council.

 Interpret resident rights to the resident, family and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 Receive and follow work schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.

 Assist in interviewing residents/guardians and obtaining required information and signatures.

 Assist in the orientation program for residents/personnel in accordance with our established policies and procedures.

 Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 Admit, transfer and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.

 Assist in recording all incidents/accidents.

 Ensure completeness of paperwork before filing and file in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and records, files, etc. are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.

 Collect, assemble and check admission papers. Forward to appropriate department.

 Obtain the resident’s assigned room number. Place on all necessary admission papers.

 Forward completed medical records to the Medical Records Department as appropriate.

 Refer admission problems to proper authority, Le, office supervisor, credit manager, nursing service, etc.

 Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of the Admitting Clerk.

 Handle all patient admission aspects.  Prepare, complete and register admission paperwork.

 Manage and solve admission problems.

 Interview patients about their medical history;

 Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families.

 Inform families about patient’s conditions.

 Collaborate with nursing staff and attending doctors in establishing patient admission, discharge or transfer.

 Ensure compliance with health care admission policies and regulations.

 Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients.

 Assesses patient’s physical, psychological, social, and environmental status; identifies problems and appropriate interventions and initiates the Plan of Care based on those findings.

 Records observations accurately and concisely to be maintained in the medical record in accordance with policies and procedures.

 Participates in on call rotation.

 Participates in the Care Team meetings and all staff meetings.

 Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities in order to maintain and increase our census and to provide the community with information relative to our facility, its programs, services, and practices.

 Assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures, and establish a rapport in and between departments so that each staff member can realize the importance of his or her role in marketing and public relations programs.

 Review the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make changes as necessary.

 Assist in the development, implementation and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.

 Interpret the facility’s policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.

 Ensure that public information (policy manuals, brochures, information packets, etc.) describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive.

 Ensure that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.

 In conjunction/coordination with the Administrator, develop and implement long range plans for the facility in its efforts to establish and maintain our marketing and public relations programs.

 Support and promote the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities.

 Assist in standardizing the methods in which marketing and public relations programs and activities will be developed.

 Assume the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the marketing and public relations department.

 Represent the facility at and participate in top-level meetings.

 Serve as liaison to the Administrator, medical staff, and other professional supervisory staff.

 Maintain schedules for all marketing and public relations programs.

 Organize and implement continuing internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, public announcements, etc.

 Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning our marketing and public relations programs and activities.

 Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc., as necessary.

 Develop, schedule and guide tours/personnel through the facility.

 Keep a supply of brochures, and other printed material readily available for persons requesting such data.

 Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.

 Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the facility.

 Supervise ongoing community service projects and develop appropriate problem-solving actions as necessary.

 Plan and implement special events that serve to advance staff, resident, and community relations.

 Coordinate special functions with all departments.

 Assist with promotions, publications, newsletters, etc., as necessary.

 Develop and maintain a current file of media contacts.

 Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility that will be beneficial to the facility and community alike.

 Keep the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on our facility or the regulations that govern our facility.

 Other duties as assigned.

 Follow all safety policies to assure resident safety.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to speak the English language.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • May be required to lift and move office equipment and supplies.
