Position : A GAme Changing Mathematics Teacher

Description : Under the direct supervision of the Head of School, the mathematics classroom teacher position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. The mathematics teacher instructs and supervises students in a variety of learning settings. The teacher provides an environment conducive to the overall development of each student. Assignments may also include working with individuals and / or small groups of students and performing other duties as assigned.

- Plan and implement instructional programs and services that adhere to the school mission and meet the strengths, interests, needs, and abilities of each student.
- Maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
- Create a learning environment that nurtures the talents and development of all students.
- Prepare long term and short term plans for secondary mathematics courses including but not limited to Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry.
- Provide a specialized learning environment, aligned to standards, that accelerates student learning.
- Plan and utilize varied methods, resources, and evaluation techniques that support each student in achieving learning objectives and outcomes.
- Prepare appropriate lesson plans and specialized instruction for mathematics classes / courses assigned to achieve learning outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and design lessons aligned to student needs.
- Evaluate student performance through observations, assignments, tests, quizzes, informal and formal assessments.
- Provide input to student educational plans and team processes.
- Maintain complete and accurate student records.
- Communicate student progress to students and parents / guardians. Meet with students and parents to support progress and growth.
- Oversee the appropriate use and care of instructional materials, resources, and equipment.
- Collaborate with school administration, colleagues, support staff, parents, and community members in the best interests of students.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and serve on various committees / workgroups.
- Improve skills and knowledge base in current trends, evidence-based practices, technology, and interdisciplinary connections.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Salary :
The salary for this 10 month position will be based on a salary scale. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the procedures of Glenwood Academy. (Range : $50,000-$60,000)

Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Certificate commensurate to the position is preferred.

The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the flexibility to move around the school and classroom.
