The Glenwood Community School District is currently accepting applications for an anticipated Assistant Manager for Food Service at West Elementary. The starting wage is $15.38/hr. Hours and Benefits will be discussed during the interview. The below job desription is based on the 8 hr position.

FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT MANAGER

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Food Service Assistant Manager (8 hour/ day)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Must be able to pass required background check and physical
• Knowledge of food production techniques
• Must complete Servsafe certification
• Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships.
• Ability to compile and analyze data.
• Considerable knowledge of food preparation and serving practices.
• Must be able to operate all food service equipment.
• Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English.

Essential Function:

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to withstand heat.
• Must be able to work simultaneously with both hands.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to withstand fluctuations in temperature.
• Must be able to work with hands in water and caustic solutions with proper protection.

Reports To: Food Service Manager

Consults With: Other kitchen employees

Position Goal: The food service assistant manager works under the supervision of the manager. The assistant manager is a cook who prepares and serves meals to students and assumes an in charge position when the manager is absent.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Supervises food productions, service, and food storage in absence of manager.
• Prepares food items by using appropriate methods and standardized recipes as assigned by manager or supervisor.
• Assists with portioning, serving, and kitchen clean-up.
• Maintains standard of sanitation and safety.
• Uses ovens, steamers, steam jacketed kettles, dish machine, slicer, mixers, and other equipment.
• Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and community.
• Recognizes properly prepared food items by sight, taste, and smell.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Days students are in school and as needed for special meals. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.

Evaluation: Food Service Manager evaluates Assistant Manager once a year under the direction of the Director of Food Services.
