Primary Function
The primary function of the Pool Maintenance Attendant is to maintain the pool and attraction waters, pool and attraction areas, and pool and attraction equipment in such a way that the pool and attraction areas are safe, secure, clean, operationally efficient, in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations, and available for use throughout business hours. The Pool Attendant is most directly responsible for pool cleaning and light maintenance.
The Pool Maintenance Attendant reports to, and is accountable to, the Lead Pool Maintenance Operator, or in the Lead’s absence, the Pool Maintenance Manager or Assistant Manager.
The Pool Maintenance Attendant has the support and authority necessary to carry out the responsibilities and tasks described in this job description and other responsibilities of the pool maintenance department, as delegated by the Lead Maintenance Operator, Assistant Manager and Manager.
- Adequate physical agility to traverse the entire GHSR property for inspection, including climbing stairs, crouching, and entering confined spaces
- Adequate physical agility to perform normal pool and attraction maintenance activities such as climbing ladders, kneeling, twisting, crouching, reaching, lifting, using hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment, and measuring devices
- Able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and follow verbal or written instructions, including technical schematics, equipment/process manuals, chemical labels, etc.
- Ability to tolerate being on feet for extended periods of time (standing and walking on hard surfaces)
- Any certifications or licenses that are required for performing the specific tasks assigned by management
- CPO Certification – While operators must pass the CPO examine within 120 days of hire, and remain active thereafter, this training is optional for Attendants.
- Specialized training in specific maintenance areas is a plus and may positively affect an individual’s pay grade and/or promotion potential
- Basic mechanical ability and dexterity
- Basic mathematical reasoning skills such as the abilities to identify proportions and estimate for safety checks
Since the maintenance of the pools and related facilities takes place both during operating and non-operating hours, the Pool Maintenance Attendant’s work hours and days must be flexible, including nights, holidays and weekends, to meet the needs of the Pool Maintenance Department. Insofar as is possible, the Pool Maintenance Manager will regulate shift assignments for predictability and to accommodate staff needs.
