ABA Assistant - Allan Cott
Glenwood’s Allan Cott School has an opening for an Applied Behavior Analyst/ABA Assistant. Our school provides special education services to children ages 6-21 with a diagnosis of Autism.
This position is ideal for Registered Behavior Technicians who are currently enrolled in or have completed coursework qualifying the candidate to begin accruing supervised fieldwork hours towards BCBA or BCaBA certification. As an ABA Assistant at Glenwood, you will work directly with your assigned BCBA and multidisciplinary team to complete activities that include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing needs using indirect, descriptive, and direct standardized assessments
- Conducting an analog assessment/functional analysis if appropriate
- Writing behavior change programs to address needs
- Implementing Behavior Support Plans and other ABA programs or interventions
- Collaborating with speech and occupational therapists on the treatment of students
- Training staff on ABA programs and behavior support plans
- Monitoring implementation of programs through data collection, graphing, and analysis
- Making necessary changes to programming
- Conducting treatment integrity checks
- Providing feedback to staff regarding the implementation of programs
- Attending interdisciplinary treatment meetings
- Implementing special education programs and lessons
- Providing crisis intervention and responding to aggressive or self-injurious behaviors
- Collecting student data on behavioral and educational progress
- Providing direct care for students and assisting with daily living skills/hygiene as needed
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00a-3:00p
Qualifications
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- BA/BS Degree required
- Must be enrolled in or have completed education coursework qualifying the candidate to begin accruing supervised independent fieldwork hours towards BCBA or BCaBA certification, per current Behavior Analyst Certification Board requirements.
- Current Registered Behavior Technician certification is highly preferred
- 1 year of experience providing services to people with disabilities is required. Experience providing ABA services is highly preferred.
- Valid Alabama driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency's insurers; clearance through Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Abuse Registry and ABI/FBI registry; the ability to acquire, perform, and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) all restraint techniques, and Medication Assistance Certification (MAC).
