Our Daniel House Programs serve males ages 6-14 whove experienced significant trauma and instability in their lives. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide direct care and supervision for youth with significant emotional and behavioral challenges
Be responsible for supervising youth in following their daily schedule and routines as directed.
Establish rapport and healthy relationships with youth
Documentation of care, services, and daily activities in a timely manner
Responsible for cultivating and sustaining a healthy environment in the home.
Perform home management functions such as light housekeeping.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Good relational skills
Solid listening skills
Be able to positively engage with and communicate with youth who may be struggling with strong emotions, negative attitudes, and disrespectful behavior without taking it personally.
Have a basic understanding of trauma and how it affects behavior.
Be able to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements
Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements. (Training provided by the agency)
18 years of age or older (non-driver); 21 years of age or older (driver) - must have a valid Alabama driver's license and must be insurable through the agencys insurance carrier
High school degree/GED equivalent required
Must be cleared through the Dept. of Human Resources Child Abuse & Neglect Registry as well as the ABI/FBI and pass all required pre-employment and background screening.
