What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Surgical Technician position at Glenwood Regional Medical Center?
POSITION SUMMARY
Cardiac surgical technicians assist in cardiac surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. The scrub tech functions under the supervision of the OR Charge Nurse / director and is responsible for scrubbing all types of procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, passing sterile instruments, having knowledge of special equipment and instrumentation used in the OR, strictly adheres to the basic principles and practices of aseptic technique, maintains standards of care in the department, and assists the surgical team in the delivery of perioperative care to surgical patients. Primarily responsible for preparing the operating room by setting up the equipment and sterilizing tools that are necessary for the operation. They are also responsible for making sure all equipment is working properly which may involve the assemble of some materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
- One year hospital operating room experience is preferred.
- Open heart experience is preferred.
- Certification in surgical technology is required.
- BLS Healthcare Provider Status is required within 30 day of hire date.
