Overview
Glia’s Coffee Co. is a dynamic, fast-growing specialty coffee shop with two unique locations in El Paso. We’re currently hiring a Cafe & Back-of-House Manager to lead our food program and oversee all kitchen operations, including inventory, prep systems, and team management.

This is the highest leadership position at Glia’s Coffee Co., reporting directly to the owner. You’ll have real authority and responsibility to shape the direction of our food operations and help elevate the business as a whole.

You’ll be stepping into a collaborative leadership structure. Our Front-of-House Manager, who oversees beverage operations and barista staff, will report to you. You’ll also work closely with our Courthouse Location Manager, since the central kitchen supplies that location with baked goods and grab-and-go items (like breakfast burritos, and hopefully more items with your help).

The ideal candidate is a natural leader with strong culinary experience and a proven track record of executing plans and delivering results. Experience in the coffee industry is a bonus — but the ability to stay organized, efficient, and proactive is non-negotiable.

We’re also looking for someone with a creative edge — someone who can ideate and fully execute seasonal or featured food items. We value dynamic thinking and want a manager who can contribute fresh ideas, develop them into real offerings, and follow through with testing, production, and rollout.

Our main shop — located at 404 Arizona Ave. inside a food hall in which we bring 98% of the business— houses our kitchen and modest bakery setup, fully equipped with new tools and space for growth. This facility supports both our Arizona Ave. shop and our second location inside the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse.

If you're energized by systems, execution, leadership, and creativity — and want to make a meaningful impact at a community-rooted business — we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all kitchen and back-of-house operations, ensuring daily execution aligns with business goals
  • Translate ideas and plans into concrete action — no endless planning cycles, just thoughtful execution
  • Maintain strong inventory systems: track usage, place timely orders, and reduce waste across all food items
  • Ensure all food products meet quality, consistency, and presentation standards every single day
  • Build prep systems and procedures that support smooth service and keep both locations stocked efficiently
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable for timelines, cleanliness, and shift responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with ownership and front-of-house leadership to move the business forward
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and take the lead on implementing them
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and food-handling regulations
  • Create weekly kitchen schedules that balance coverage, labor cost, and staff needs
  • Be present, hands-on, and ready to jump in — especially during busy hours or high-priority events

Qualifications

  • Effective communicator who can collaborate smoothly with front-of-house and ownership
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a commercial kitchen or back-of-house operation
  • Proven history of taking ownership and delivering measurable results — not just ideas
  • Strong systems thinker with a knack for building and refining operational workflows
  • Confident leading a team with emotional intelligence, structure, and clear expectations
  • Solid understanding of inventory management, food cost control, and batch prep efficiency
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight — proactive, not reactive
  • Comfortable navigating Square POS
  • Strong working knowledge of health codes, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
  • Experience in coffee shop or cafe environments is helpful, but not required
