What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Estimator position at GLO Resources LLC?
GLO Resources is currently hiring an experienced Civil Estimator to work in the Baton Rouge area. The rate of pay being offered is between $100K - $125K based on experience. This is a full-time position with the following schedule: Mon – Thurs from 7:30 AM. to 5:00 PM and Fri from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Occasional evening/weekend work or travel may be required as job duties demand.
Position Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing complete, accurate estimates on a variety of projects including deep foundations, civil concrete, and buildings. This is from inception to completion with an execution plan and a budget.
Position Responsibilities:
- Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates
- Have an understanding of the client's bid documents and requirements.
- Includes different types of estimates including Lump Sum, Time, Material, and Budgetary.
- Visits project work sites, clarifies the scope of work, and prepares cost estimates and proposals.
- Reviews construction documents and understands the scope of work to bid.
- Prepares project bid status report and ensures compliance with all specifications and contract & bid invitations.
- Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
- Able to work with operations to turnover your estimate narrative and details to facilitate the beginning of a successful project in the field.
- Executes take-offs of construction documents.
- Obtains pricing for material and bids from subcontractors.
- Manages material and subcontractor solicitations and their proposal evaluation.
- Maintains resource information for vendors and subcontractors used in an estimate.
- Participates in weekly staff meetings.
Required Skills, Experience, & Education:
- Minimum of 4 years of field experience in deep foundation, concrete, and buildings.
- Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree preferred; will consider candidates with equivalent knowledge through experience.
- Knowledge of production definition and using information from the estimate to develop schedules in both simple and P6 formats as required.
- Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry (P6). HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating system, Spectrum, is preferred.
- Ability to prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with quantities, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Must be able to pass all Safety Council-related courses
- Must undergo Pre-Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram, fit test if applicable)
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment and/or vehicles
- Willing to work in a professional office setting 90% of the time and visit job sites the remaining 10% of the time.
Physical Demands:
Office Environment – Employee is regularly required to sit; use of hands to grip, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. Field/Jobsite Environment – Climbing, crawling, crouching, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposure to loud noises are to be expected on a jobsite environment. Exposure to extreme hot or cold outside temperatures is possible.
