What You'll Be Doing:

Preform general shipboard maintenance under the direction and supervision of the Ship Maintenance Supervisor or assigned supervisor or manager. Ties up vessels, cleans piers, vessel / craft decks, hulls, holds, compartments, engine rooms, magazines, bilges, and tanks. Performs vessel and craft preservation. Prepares surfaces for preservation using chipping hammer scaling tools, hand scrapes, power equipment, and deck cleaning machines. Applies proper preservation using paint brushes and paint rollers. Applies sealing compounds using hands, brush, or caulking tools. Pumps tanks and bilges, installs and connects sump pumps, air driven reciprocating pumps, suction and discharge hoses.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

• One-year of General Labor experience
• Be able to demonstrate proper connection/assembly, adjustment and operation of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment used for preservation and maintenance of vessels within 90 days of hire
• Must be familiar with basic hand tools and must be able to follow written or verbal instructions
• Properly and securely separate, store, and transport waste, ensuring that no pollution or harm to human health is caused in the process.

Preferred:

• One-year previous Maritime General Labor experience or prior military
