Accountant (Insurance/Reinsurance)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team in a leading reinsurance company. This role is ideal for a professional with 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably within the reinsurance or insurance industry. The successful candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish and will be responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting key accounting functions related to reinsurance transactions.

Hybrid 3 days/week in Miami, FL

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including intercompany transactions and financial reporting.
• Support reinsurance accounting processes, including premium and claims reconciliation, loss reserves, and ceded reinsurance transactions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, or statutory reporting as applicable).
• Assist in preparing regulatory filings and reports for management, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Monitor and analyze reinsurance agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment and financial impact assessment.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
• Communicate effectively with teams across multiple regions, leveraging bilingual skills (English and Spanish) to facilitate discussions and reporting requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the reinsurance or insurance industry.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, or statutory accounting principles related to reinsurance.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with reinsurance-specific systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams and geographies.
