Technical Writer - Senior
Estimated Duration: One year
Work Hours (i.e., 9 to 5 with a one-hour lunch): 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Laurel, MD 20707.
Special Instructions: Interviews will be performed in person.
Security Requirements: Selected personnel shall pass background check
The consultants will engage with Customer Service leadership, project managers, training specialists, subject matter experts (SMEs), and end-users to gather accurate information and ensure documentation reflects processes and procedures accurately. They will create clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation/media, including:
• User manuals and operational guides (e.g., user guides, quick reference guides)
• Training materials (e.g., brochures, presentations)
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and troubleshooting
• Instructional Videos
The consultants will be expected to leverage industry best practices in technical writing and use documentation and video production tools to produce high-quality, professional documentation/media tailored to the organization’s needs.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Business Management, or a related field
General Experience:
Six (6) years of senior-level experience. Ten years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 6 years of experience in a technical writing position
Specialized Experience:
AP style guide experience (Preferred); SOW and RFP development experience (Preferred)
Skillset:
Technical Skills: Proficient in documentation tools and version control. Understanding of software and project development processes.
Writing Skills: Capable of clear and concise writing tailored to various audiences, with strong editing and familiarity with style guides.
