GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Quality Assurance Specialist in Huntsville, AL to support the manufacture, repair, fielding, and sustainment of aircraft and aircraft components. In this role, you will establish and evaluate compliance with quality standards and controls for aviation components. You will support quality assurance efforts across the Army’s Aviation Fleet including the Apache, Blackhawk, and Chinook platforms. When issues are found, you will need to address using Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Notice of Escapements (NOEs), and hardware obsolesces.
This ideal candidate will be able to interpret technical instructions, manuals, and regulations to ensure adherence to high quality standards. To be successful in this role, strong communication skills (oral and written), ability to work within a team, and flexibility are vital. Ability to collaborate with other disciplines including engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure quality standards are integrated into processes and products are essential in this role.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality assurance support by being able to learn and apply an understanding of the manufacture, repair, fielding, and sustainment of aircraft and aircraft components;
- Supports oversight activities to ensure compliance with quality standards across various aviation projects;
- Establishes and evaluates compliance with essential quality standards and controls for aviation components;
- Ensures contractual agreements align with Army aviation quality, safety, and technical policies;
- Interprets technical instructions, manuals, and regulations to ensure adherence to aviation quality standards;
- Provides guidance on integrating technical policies and procedures into quality assurance processes;
- Applies learned comprehensive knowledge of aviation quality principles, with an emphasis on Army aircraft such as Apache, Blackhawk, and Chinook platforms;
- Supports quality assurance efforts specific to the Army's aviation fleet and its technical programs;
- Performs quality assurance oversight activities critical to meeting the Command's Product Assurance Requirements;
- Provides input on aviation quality issues related to field operations, engineering changes, and hardware management;
- Contributes to reimbursable activities directed by PEO/AMCOM Aviation, including support for existing fleet configurations;
- Participates in initiatives that involve technical evaluations and quality oversight for Army aviation systems;
- Addresses field issues by learning to provide technical quality support for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Notice of Escapements (NOEs), and hardware obsolescence;
- Supports troubleshooting and resolution of quality and safety concerns for operational platforms;
- Provides quality assurance support for technical programs related to the existing aviation fleet that are not specific to new configurations;
- Ensures the sustainment of high-quality standards in ongoing fleet maintenance and upgrades;
- Prepares detailed reports documenting quality assurance findings, technical evaluations, and recommended corrective actions;
- Maintains records related to compliance activities, inspections, and resolutions;
- Works with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to integrate quality standards into processes and products;
- Fosters communication with stakeholders to address technical and quality-related issues effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, business, or information technology is required;
- At least two (2) years' of relevant experience is required;
- DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required at start;
- Background in Army Aviation is strongly desired;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
