GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Software Configure Management System Administrator in Huntsville, AL to oversee and maintain the consistency of IT systems by identifying, documenting, and controlling changes to all configuration items (CIs) throughout their lifecycle, ensuring system stability, compliance, and proper functionality through established policies and procedures, often utilizing dedicated configuration management tools. This position is a Hybrid location. Candidate must be able to be onsite to support the customer.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and documents all configuration items within the IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, network settings, and dependencies;
- Tracks and controls changes made to software throughout its development lifecycle;
- Establishes a baseline configuration for systems and managing changes to maintain consistency and track deviations;
- Implements change control processes to review, approve, and track all proposed modifications to configuration items;
- Ensures the accuracy and consistency of software builds and releases;
- Manages different versions of configuration items and ensures proper deployment of updates;
- Performs regular audits to verify system configurations are compliant with established standards and policies;
- Generates reports on configuration changes, potential risks, and system health to stakeholders;
- Selects, implements, and manages configuration management tools to automate processes and track changes;
- Collaborates with IT operations teams to troubleshoot configuration-related issues during incidents.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other relevant field of study is required;
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of industry accepted Information Technology (IT) experience is required;
- DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required at start;
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network protocols, operating systems, and scripting languages is required;
- Proficiency in popular configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack are preferred;
- Ability to diagnose configuration issues and implement effective solutions is required
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical teams to explain complex configuration concepts is required;
- Ability to analyze data and identify trends related to configuration changes and system performance is required.
