The Cook is responsible for the preparation and safe handling of food to include baking, broiling, grilling, braising, poaching, and cold preparation items while maintaining a high level of safety and sanitation on a boat in Alaska.
Position Essential Job Functions
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
1-2 years related experience
Current food handler’s permit
Knowledge/Skills
Current Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification
Ability to successfully complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with a team and independently
Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions
Physical/ Mental Requirements
Ability to work any day of the week both night and day on a boat in navigation in Alaska

Position Description
The Cook is responsible for the preparation and safe handling of food to include baking, broiling, grilling, braising, poaching, and cold preparation items while maintaining a high level of safety and sanitation on a boat in Alaska.
Position Essential Job Functions
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner in a sanitary environment for all staff on project
- Plan cooking schedule to ensure foods will be ready at specified times
- Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, utensils, and work areas in accordance with governing health and safety standards
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and proper cooking standards
- Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, including scales, mixers, grinders and slicers to prepare menu items
- Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking by grilling, frying, steaming, or baking
- Maintain accurate inventory of food stores for meals while keeping storage spaces and coolers organized and rotated
- Conserve, properly store, and use leftovers and leftover raw materials
- Other duties as assigned
- This work requires someone to be available on a variable basis.
- Employees must be available for a large percentage of available work and attentive to communications for job scheduling changes.
