Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Vessel Operator to join our team in Seattle, WA. This person will be responsible for the safe and effective navigation and operation of various response vessels supporting pre-booming operations and planned and emergency response projects.
- Small vessel operation
- Skilled equipment operations including but not limited to forklift, pump operations, hand tools (Hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and gas-powered), and heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, and backhoes)
- Welding and cutting
- Ensure preventative booming services are up to standard and align with company regulations.
- Oil Spill response
- Deploying, retrieval, and processing of sorbent materials
- Boom deployment and retrieval
- Perform vessel maintenance, including scraping, painting, and changing all oil and filters. Lubricate machinery and equipment
- Splices and repairs cables and ropes using hand tools
- Carry out and complete assigned tasks within the legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies
- Keep vessel and equipment maintained by performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties
- Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required
- Perform minor engineering repairs and engineering rounds as directed
- Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines
- Handle mooring lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat
- Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, ship's ramps, and shoreside facilities in all weather conditions
- Assist with the towing, deploying, and stowing of oil containment boom
- Perform lookout duties while underway - including watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise
- Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
- Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Drive company vehicles as needed

Hourly rate for candidates in Seattle, WA : $21.00 - $27.00
