The PR & Communications Coordinator has access to many confidential materials and information including GLOBAL’s media platform analytics and field files. Therefore there is a high level of confidentiality and responsibility required for this position.
BACKGROUND
GLOBAL is a fast-growing, strategic, innovative, and ambitious public not for profit 501(c)3 with the mission and track record of significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome through Research, Medical Care, Education & Advocacy. GLOBAL provides critical funding, outreach and lobbying in support of our four “Affiliates”:
- Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome (Crnic Institute)
- University of Colorado Alzheimer’s & Cognition Center (ACC)
- Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome (Sie Center)
- GLOBAL Adult Down Syndrome Center pilot with Denver Health (Adult Center)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The PR & Communications Coordinator job is an exciting, full-time non-exempt position that reports into the PR Marketing Communications Executive Assistant and matrixed into the PR & Communications Specialist.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for GLOBAL’s public relations, communications, and social media so that our daily communications and our event and marketing initiatives run smoothly and successfully, ensuring a high level of connectivity and satisfaction, internally and externally. This will in turn allow GLOBAL to fundraise and advocate for excellent medical care and research for more individuals with Down syndrome.
Metrics for success will revolve around timeliness, accuracy, and quantitative and qualitative deliverables. This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, the ability to keep abreast of a busy communication schedule, and the ability to easily interact with individuals internally and externally.
The key areas of work are Website Assistance, Down Syndrome WorldTM magazine, PR for Events & Marketing, Website Management & Reports, and Social Media.

PR Support
1. Train on and eventually manage the Daily Meltwater media monitoring and reporting
2. Organize certain past event photos and download, name and organize new event photos
3. Assist with live interview research and briefings
4. Assist with the rolling calendar, helping PR and the GLOBAL team to meet deadlines
5. Assist with organizing targeted lists of reporters and media outlets for pitching
6. Assist with organizing professional photos and videos for GLOBAL, GLOBAL staff and Affiliates
Website Support
1. Daily review of key pages
2. Google analytic periodic reporting for key pages
3. Co-proofing new pages or updated pages
4. Occasional website copy and blog creation
5. Assist to organize and promote videos on YouTube
6. Market research related to web pages/initiatives profiled on the website
7. Assist to ensure the site is in good health, including fixing 404 errors and indexing pages
Social Media Support
1. Assist to ensure the social media calendar annualized events, campaigns and initiatives are posted
2. Assist to ensure that social media campaigns, and two weeks of daily posts, are created ahead of time and approved before posting
3. Assist with the creation and distribution of monthly sprout social reports
Other Support
1. Assist with updating the data team with key reporters, media executives, and outlets
2. Assist with GLOBAL’s annual gala, the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show
3. Other duties as appropriate
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or similar
· Interested in working at least 2-3 years in a non-profit environment using public relations or media environment degree
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
· A solid understanding of PR marketing concepts, and practices and a willingness to follow industry trends and methods
· Excellent writing, proofing, and copy-editing skills with minimal (if any) errors
· Working knowledge in these areas are a plus:
o Press platforms such Meltwater, Cision, or Canva
o Eblast, social media, and websites analytic platforms and KPIs
o WordPress, MailChimp, CRM Software
o Adobe Creative Suites and Adobe Experience Manager (specifically working in the DAM with AEM)
o Copywriting for web content and/or magazine publications, with high attention to content detail, and rigorous follow-through in finalizing content
o Familiarity with video production and editing (e.g. Vimeo, Photoshop and/or Adobe Premiere)

REPORTING STRUCTURE
As part of the PR, Marketing and Communications Department, the PR Communications Coordinator reports into PR, Marketing & Communications Executive Assistant and the PR Communications Specialist.
COMPENSATION
This is a non-exempt position, requiring flexibility in order to meet deadlines and attend GLOBAL events. $40,000 - $50,000 range. Salary is commensurate to experience.
HOURS
Must work the hours necessary to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position, generally Mondays through Fridays from 9:00am-6:00pm. Employee must be able to work in the Denver office Monday through Thursday, with a work-at-home on Friday option. Position may also require some travel, evening and/or weekend work on occasion.
