Job Title : Automation Engineering Support

POSITION OVERVIEW :
Our team is currently looking for Automation Engineering Support for a client in the Oil and Gas industry.
The Engineer will provide engineering support for instrumentation and automation (I&E) systems in midstream facilities. The engineer will assist with the design, implementation, and optimization of control systems, participate in technical reviews, and support the development of corporate standards for I&E systems. They will also manage third-party contractors, review engineering packages, and test and analyze instrumentation and control systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the design, implementation, and optimization of control systems within midstream, (gas, oil, and water), processing facilities
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in PlantState Suite (PSS)
- Experience in alarm rationalization, alarm categorization, dynamic alarm settings, and reporting & analysis
- Experience in the commissioning / startup of midstream facilities
- Must have a high level of knowledge of natural gas processing and process control
- Strong working knowledge of ANSI -ISA, NEC code, API RP 500, applicable regulations surrounding electrical power and instrumentation systems in the Oil & Gas industry
- Experience with implementing control strategies commonly utilized in gas treating / compression facilities, including PID control loops, motor controls, alarm management and advanced controls
- High level of expertise in industry standard control systems, specifically PLC and DCS controllers and software instructions. Experience with Allen Bradley (SLC, CLX) PLCs & Emerson Delta V DCS is highly desirable.
- Experience in determining and performing RTU / EFM, controller, and instrumentation tests needed for analysis and reporting to engineering & operations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills / experience
- Working experience with HMI software, including but not limited to Cygnet, Ignition, Wonderware, and RS View / FactoryTalk View.
- Project management experience preferable including managing 3rd party contractors.
- Experience reviewing instrumentation, electrical and control system drawings
- Working experience with measurement devices, including but not limited to flow meters, analyzers, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, etc.
- Working experience with Allen Bradley, ABB Totalflow, Emerson ROC 800, and other RTU / EFM’s
- Strong communication and people skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Other Engineering disciplines or Process experience may be considered with appropriate experience. Title and compensation will be based on experience level.
Travel Requirements
Travel to field locations or other office locations required (higher or lower for specific time periods depending on work tasks and projects). The percentage of travel required for this position is 10 - 25%
