Position Overview
Our team is currently looking for an Investigator for one of our clients in the Oil & Gas industry.
Plan and execute investigations into potential breaches of the Code of Conduct, company policy and relevant laws. Investigations may involve, but are not limited to, fraud, theft, bribery and corruption, conflict of interest, harassment, anti-trust and may involve employees, contract employees, vendors/suppliers and others. End-to-end investigations responsibilities encompass:
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Effectively manage whistleblowers, maintaining the strictest confidence
- Defining scope of the investigation, including Terms of Reference creation and Case file management in Global Helpline (Navex)
- Defining investigative approach/plan
- Undertake the collection, preservation and analysis of evidence (digital and hard copy) to appropriate court standards
- Review of Electronically Stored Information through defined forensic review tools
- Conducting witness and subject interviews
- Prepare detailed written reports subject to third party review (civil and/or criminal) and testify as required in legal proceedings
- Holding stakeholder close-out calls
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)
- Experienced investigator with (1) experience in a corporate investigations role; (2) previous substantial law enforcement experience in conducting investigations into fraud or financial crime or (3) experience as a qualified forensic accountant.
- Will have typically ten years’ experience in investigations, including preferably international experience performing investigations.
- Bachelors, and ideally a Masters, in Accounting, Criminal Justice or Law, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to understand complex situations and handle large amounts of data and cut through to the key elements.
- Familiarity with electronic data systems and data collection, working knowledge of forensic data interrogation techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong stakeholder management capability and excellent interpersonal skills at dealing with various and demanding levels of management.
- Unquestioned honesty and integrity, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, independence, objectivity and standards of professionalism in the conduct and management of investigations.
- Legal, Contracting & Procurement, Finance, IT or project management skills and experience within a major corporate would also be an advantage.
- A self-starter with a strong work ethic and able to work with minimum supervision but should also be able to integrate effectively into a team environment, participate actively in delivering departmental goals and demonstrate strong collaborative and co-operative skills.
- Is able to deal with complex cases, high workload and high levels of ambiguity as well as managing senior stakeholder engagements successfully.
- Language skills: English (fluent), other languages are an advantage depending on location.
